Our Work
Strategic Plan
In the spring of 2009, the United Way Board of Directors approved a 5-year strategic plan that adopts United Way of America’s 10-year national goals in the area of education, income and health to get to the root of problems before they start, measuring progress along the way. The 10-year goals are:
Education – Reduce by 50% the number of kids who drop out of high school.
Income – Reduce by 50% the number of people living in poverty.
Health – Reduce by 30% risky behaviors that impact the physical and mental well-being of individuals.
We are excited about this new journey we are on which was inaugurated with the collaboration of public and private partnerships to end chronic homelessness in St. Johns County (Home Again St. Johns), and our partnership with St. Johns Middle School Athletic Association giving all middle schoolers who want to participate in sports the opportunity to do so which will meet a number of objectives including healthy, structured, supervised environment during after school hours, character building skills which encourage good grades and citizenship, and reducing and preventing obesity.
If you are interested in helping our United Way meet any of these goals, please contact us at 829-9721. We’d love to have your input and your participation.
